The Dhaka Metro Rail network is a mass rapid transit system being built in phases. Line-6 (Uttara to Motijheel) is the first operational line. Line-5 (Gabtoli to Dasherkandi) is under construction. Additional lines are planned to create a comprehensive network covering greater Dhaka. The system is operated by Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL). When complete, the network will have over 100 stations and is expected to carry millions of passengers daily, dramatically reducing traffic congestion.
