To factory reset an iPhone, first back up your data to iCloud or a computer because a reset erases everything. Then open Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings. Enter your passcode and Apple ID password when prompted. The iPhone wipes all data and restarts to the setup screen. If you are selling or giving it away, sign out of iCloud first in Settings > your name > Sign Out to remove Activation Lock. If the iPhone is unresponsive, you can reset it from a computer with Finder or iTunes by selecting Restore iPhone.
